What is GTLS?
GTLS is an abbreviation of Gaseous Tritium Light Source – a tiny self-powered light that glows far brighter than phosphorous paint, providing a dial illumination that is self powered and constantly working without the need for batteries or charging by sunlight. Nite watches feature a GTLS on each hour marking, all three hands and on bezels where applicable.

How does it work?
Each GTLS is a minute glass vial which is internally coated with phosphor, pressure injected with gaseous tritium and sealed by a CO2 laser. As the gas decays, the electrons emitted from the tritium excite the phosphor to create a continuous cold light that is entirely self-powered. GTLS are guaranteed to glow for 10 years but will actually produce a glow for much longer.
